Set Up Your Audio Input
Piano Tree supports MIDI, Microphone, and None (play along without note detection). You can also use the on-screen keyboard as a playable input. Switch between them anytime in Settings.
Choosing Your Input Method
Go to Settings → Audio Input and select:
- •MIDI — For digital keyboards and controllers (most accurate). Supports USB and Bluetooth MIDI.
- •MIC — For acoustic pianos and other instruments (Beta)
- •None — Play along without input detection

You can switch between MIDI and Microphone at any time depending on your setup!

Volume mixer tip
When using the microphone, lower the Backing track volume in the volume mixer (or mute speakers and use headphones) so the app can hear your piano more clearly. First-time microphone setup lowers the backing track automatically.
