MIDI Connection: MIDI Controller/PC, Tablet or iPad
Prerequisites
- •MIDI controller with USB, MIDI, or Bluetooth MIDI support
- •PC, tablet, phone, or iPad with a compatible operating system
- •USB cable, MIDI-USB adapter, or a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard (as needed)
Connecting the MIDI Controller
1. USB Connection

If you are going to use a USB connection, check the input and output type on your MIDI controller or digital piano and your computer or device.
USB Connector Types
- •Connect the MIDI controller to the PC, tablet or iPad using a USB cable.
- •The operating system should recognize the device automatically.
2. MIDI Connection (interface / adapter)
- •Connect the MIDI controller to the PC, tablet or iPad using a MIDI-USB cable or adapter.
- •Configure the operating system to recognize the MIDI device.

3. Bluetooth MIDI (native iOS & Android apps)
On the Piano Tree iOS and Android apps you can connect Bluetooth (BLE) MIDI keyboards:
- •Go to Settings → Audio Input and select MIDI
- •Tap Bluetooth MIDI to open the Bluetooth MIDI picker
- •Select your keyboard and connect
- •Confirm it appears as Connected in the MIDI Devices list

Bluetooth MIDI requires the native app. If you're on the web, use USB MIDI or a system-level Bluetooth MIDI connection where your browser/OS supports it.
App Configuration
Once connected to your device:
MIDI Setup Settings
- •Go to Settings → Audio Input
- •Select MIDI as your input type
- •Your keyboard should appear in the MIDI Devices list
- •Click Connect next to your device (or use Refresh if it doesn't appear yet)
- •The status will change to Connected ✓

Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| No devices found | Click "Refresh" to scan again |
| Device not connecting | Click "Disconnect" then "Connect" again |
| Still not working | Unplug and reconnect the USB cable, ensure keyboard is powered on |
| Bluetooth not listed | Open the native app and use Bluetooth MIDI; make sure the keyboard is in pairing mode |
MIDI Navigation
Enable "Navigation" in the MIDI settings to:
- •Press Middle C (C4) to start a song
- •Press Middle C to "Try Again" on the completion screen
- •Press D4 to go to the next song
